I just started working on a Drarry creature fic (with dray being a neko) and i wanted some feedback. Or maybe some suggestions. Here is an excerpt:
          
          Draco bolted up, sweat dripping down his face. He sighed. It was just a dream. Thank Merlin it was just a dream.
          
          His triumph was interrupted by pain. Draco screamed, raw and vulnerable. He could just barely make out footsteps running towards him. He wrenched his eyes shut, afraid of what might come next. A beating, perhaps. Or something worse. Something his father only did when he was very bad.
          
          It was just his mother, he could tell by her scent, lavender and honeysuckle. 
          
          He let out a shaky sigh. He would be okay. She never once laid a finger on him; his mother didn't know about his father abusing him.
          
          He slowly opened his eyes to see her standing in the doorway. Narcissa ran over to him, hugging him tightly, but loosened her grip when he let out a yelp. They collapsed on the floor, Draco's head in his mother's lap, both shaking violently. At this point, Draco realized he was crying. Draco's eyes widened. What would his father think? Malfoys don't cry. Malfoys don't cry. That was his last thought before he passed out from the pain.
          
          "He'll have to hide it, a strong glamour will do," came Madam Pomfrey's voice. So they were in the hospital wing. That seemed strange. Hogwarts didn't start for another two months. Surely if it was something serious they would be at St Mungo's...
