I could be the only one who doesn't know this, and I'm probably not the best person to give writing advice anyway, but I just got the best writing tip from Pinterest! When you're writing something (essay, story chapter, oneshot, etc.) copy and paste it into Google translate. It's easier to find mistakes when listening to it instead of just reading it.
