@americas-ass || that is a very good point! He still had a family (endgame) and if i were him i would have love to go back to my forever lover. But the only thing that infuriates me is the series agent carter, we seen her grow and love agent suza. She grew to be happy and later to have kids and stuff (although we never saw that) but thats how the time line went, because if steve wasn’t supposed to be in 2012 then the “tva” would have sent him back. And it was a good way to send him back and no one ever saw peggys time line get erased but thats how it seems to be going.
            
            Believe me I love the idea of him going back but you seen the damage it left on bucky and sam. It may not have been much but they were his family. And yes nat and tony died but that doesnt mean he could just leave, what about wanda? She was a mess, if he never went back she probably would have never popped off like she did in WV. He was probably the only one to comfort her, (my opinion)
            
            Im not saying what he did was bad or good, im more towards the bad on it. But i understand your point I would have totally wanted to go back in time to live a long peaceful life, and it was the only way they could put steve out of the picture. But the way he did it was horrible, he just said “bye” and dipped.

You can consider them good or even best friends after such a time, which validates why he cared about her so much. 
            
            Then post-endgame, Steve was quite literally traumatized to the bone. He'd lost nearly /everything/ and /everyone./ Nat and Tony were his homes, and they died horrible deaths. (I'm talking about Tony's organs being liquified due to radiation.) He blames himself for that, because he should have saved them in his mind. They deserved to life that happy life, not him. Not to mention the other trauma he's experienced throughout his lifetime (war, loss, sickness.)
            
            I think he completely acted out of accumulated trauma. Kinda like the type of tunnel vision depressed and/or suicidal people have. When your thoughts make you hate yourself that much, you don't think about who you're leaving behind. 
            
            You know when you're absolutely rock-bottom and you latch onto the last thing that makes you feel a sliver of happiness? Whether it be drawing, writing, alcohol, drugs, etc. Steve (probably) did the same thing. He went back to the past & Peggy because he thought it would make him happy and perhaps even drown out that amount of trauma. Nothing else did, not even Buck or Sam. Peggy was his bottle of alcohol, and I know that sounds harsh. He was just grasping for straws and it wasn't healthy at all. 
            
            She deserved better. They both did tbh. Horrible ending. But hopefully this puts it in another perspective. Would have loved to see him take a massive break, enter therapy and maybe get a service dog. He could have been Commander of a rebuilt SHIELD after.

i don’t like steve either way but like they kissed once ONCE and he left her for his best friend who he went through a lot with and sam and the rest of the avengers when i think they needed him the most
