I have a lot of things to say about Charlie Kirk’s death. For my non-Americans, Charlie Kirk was an extreme right-wing conservative who believed abortion was worse than The Holocaust, adamant about the right to own guns, and said if his 10 year old daughter got pregnant as a result of rape he’d make her carry that baby to term. Today, on a college campus in Utah, he was shot in his neck, he died an hour later. I see a lot of people on social media celebrating his death, and I have to say that’s weird as fuck. Clearly, I’m not mourning him, I think his death was poetic justice in a way, but I am not celebrating either. Kirk like other right wingers was very adamant about protecting the 2nd amendment (the right to bear arms) which if you ask me has been grossly misinterpreted. The right to bear arms was for the state in case of a revolution, to be able to protect themselves against the government had anything happened. It was definitely not calling for individuals to have weapons unnecessarily. Anyways, there are people celebrating and there are people who are humanizing him as if he hadn’t said some of the worst things I’ve heard. Kirk literally went on stage and called every single student, teacher, and other staff in American schools collateral damage. He said that he wouldn’t mind a few gun related deaths to protect the 2nd amendment. So no, I don’t feel bad he died, you reap what you sow. I have sympathy for his family, and his young children who have to see the video of his death until the day they die, but I don’t feel bad for him. Again, not celebrating.
