Have you considered adding badges to enhance the quality of content and incentivize users to write stories? I came from a platform called StoryFire where they awarded badges to written stories in the early days of the platform. 
          
          Badges such as Recent Story, Top Story, Weekly Contest, Top Series, and Recent Series were all different types of badges that could be earned on StoryFire.
          
          Additionally, there were holiday writing contests for Christmas, Halloween, Easter, and Valentine's Day where badges were rewarded to contest winners.
