Let It Snow by John Green, Mareen Johnson and Lauren Myracle:
So, this book is split into three seperate stories all set on Christmas Eve and Christmas day at exactly the same time, in the same town and in the same blizzard. And can I tell you this... I LOVED this book. In fact, I read it in about 4 hours and it isn't a particularly small book.
1. The Jubilee Express by Maureen Johnson. (9 1/2 / 10)
W. O. W.
So, Jubilee's parents are arrested on Christmas Eve and so she has to go and spend christmas with her grandparents in Florida - leaving her boyfriend, Noah, who's party she was meant to go to that night. But, on the way to Florida, the train stops because of the snow storm and she gets out to find she's in a small town called Gracetown. There she meets Stuart (A.K.A: my favourite character in the whole book)
I loved this story from the first word to the last. Jubilee was funny and sarcastic and everything you need to have a good, relatable main character to get the book going. But I LOVED Stuart. He was so sweet and so GENUINE. Stuart was such an easy character to read and I liked him more and more as the story progressed.
2. A Cheertastic Christmas Miracle by John Green. (6/10)
The story follows a boy, Tobin, and his friends, the Duke (a tomboyish girl whose real name is Angie), and JP, who are watching movies at Tobin's home while his parents are out of town. They are lured to the local Waffle House by a phone call from their friend Keun, who tells them that a group of cheerleaders has entered the store and are practicing their routines, as well as requesting to play Twister.
Ok, this story was my least favourite. Sorry for all you Johan Green fans. I liked it but I don't think I would have enjoyed reading it if it was the only book - not accompanied by the other two. I felt that the description of the three friends trying to get up a hill in their car whilst there was a blizzard just went on for a little while. The writing was AMAZING, though, and I could read John Green all day, but I just felt this story wasn't as strong as the other two - or TFIOS but what is?
3. The Patron Saint of Pigs (7 3/4/10)
The third story follows a girl named Addie, who is depressed because she broke up with her boyfriend Jeb. The backstory of her relationship with Jeb is told, about how the two had instantly fallen for each other, but that Addie had kept trying to change Jeb.
I really liked this one, I did. It was sweet and it tied in nicely with the rest of the story - tying up the loose ends and giving us a very merry christmas story. Addie was sweet and she was probably up there in my top three favourite characters - but I didn't like the way she had previously pushed Jeb around to change but, hey, everything turns out ok in the end.
