the woman rolled her eyes at beidou’s jesting, dropping her arms to the side. eye-rolling was a habit that ningguang started to do often, especially in the company of beidou. this time though, her eye roll was accompanied by a humoring smile. “ no special occasions, i just felt. . . ” the white-haired woman paused, and then proceeded, “ —generous. ” generous was definitely not the correct term.
ningguang waved her hand and an attendant stepped forward, the woman carrying a box. one that seemed antique and was treated with care. ningguang grasped the box in her hands and opened it, revealing a singular golden stud earring piece to beidou. the earring’s structure was that of a diamond, similar to rex lapis’ symbol and yet not at all.
what was the most unique characteristic of the earring though, was the bright diamond-cut jade in the center. “ this jadeite’s color is ‘ imperial jade ’, sought after by many. ” ningguang murmured, presenting the earring with a pride, like a girl showing off her artwork from school. “ i intended to auction this off as it is highly valuable, even at its size, but i was convinced that the feeling of giving it to you is worth more than mora could buy. ” this gift? an unlikely act from ningguang, a very surprising act actually. only rex lapis himself could tell what was racing in her head. “ you could wear it on your other ear. ”
