          Paradis is a living being, even if we don't realize it. Its streets are its sprawling veins, its buildings its eyes, and its countless rivers are its arteries through which its blood flows across the island. When its inhabitants wage war, harm one another, and ravage their dear country, the island comes to life. 
          
          She spits out all the animosity she's accumulated over the years, too angry to hold onto it any longer. The island is its people, and the people are the island; one cannot live without the other, one cannot prosper without the other.

          "What do you want, Kirstein?" You snap at him, smoothing down your dark red skirt to make sure you look at least somewhat presentable. You tighten your knuckles around the knob, ready to slam the door in his face at any moment. 
          
          "I'm not even getting a thank you for saving your life? Unbelievable, what ingratitude!" He frowns, placing a hand on his heart as he winces in feigned sadness before slightly raising his eyes to see if you're reacting to his terrible acting. 
          
          "Not even a little smile?" He lowers his head in disappointment before straightening up.
