12 DAYS. I GO OFFLINE FOR 12 DAYS AND I RETURN TO NOT ONE, NOT TWO, BUT 315 NOTIFICATIONS ON WATTPAD!

Like many other Wattpad readers, the new ad banners at the bottom of the page during reading have become a massive issue that’s really starting to frustrate me.

I’m able to handle ads between chapters and below story descriptions, but having ads block the writing defeats the purpose of Wattpad. If this is an app made to share stories, create, read, and connect with friends, why plaster advertisements over the content people go on this app for? Why drive away your consumers when the previous number of ads was enough?

I hope that the Wattpad team/company remembers why people are here. Ads already destroy viewership experience—YouTube being a great example over the past decade where the number of ads has evolved to a level where you can’t go a minute without two unskippable 15 second ads—but I digress.

There is a great opportunity for the company to demonstrate that they listen to their audience by taking in this feedback from dozens of individuals. If they respond well to this by fixing the issue, then they can boost popularity by reminding viewers that they can make change and have a voice in how the app runs. However, if Wattpad refuses to fix the issue or shifts the blame, then the app will experience a swift fall from grace.

I understand that money and sponsors and agreements with other companies are important factors, but if you have no audience to promote products or services to, then what’s the point in having the advertisement in the first place?

          Thanks for reading

I’m thinking about releasing a bnha fanfic on this account—I’ve been working on it for maybe 6 months or so (no where near finished). It started as something just for fun, but I am now torn as to whether I should genuinely publish(?) it here or not. Any thoughts??
