I totally know what you mean by that whole 'No clue if I should start writing my own story...'. I had that thought last week, but i took the risk and started writing one. In my opinion I think you should, I would love to help but I am a new writer and I don't think my advice will help. But I can try. I think you should go for it. Good luck x
