I've been leaving thank you messages on the profiles of bingers who voted on the story. So far all has ignored me. One even deleted my message. And all their profiles are just dead. Do people even use their profile pages anymore?
Anyway, after 6 months, I finally heard from an indie publisher. They seem new and inexperienced, their portfolio so far is hit-and-miss, and they've just begun their foray into romantasy.
But I'm tempted to let them handle Luminous. I was so exhausted publishing Book 1 on my own. I don't have money for a proper cover, edit, and marketing. And no-one is buying or leaving feedback. I also have no chance of getting traditionally published. I'm one of those writers who in this life probably has one story in them. This publisher is so far the only willing to give previously online stories like mine a chance, even when it already failed from self-publishing.
Sounds desperate, I know. But what choice do I have?
Wattpad is also no longer the platform my brother introduced me to over a decade ago. I was once contacted I can apply to be a Wattpad Star if my story is complete with over 100K views. Now, you can only enter Wattpad Originals with a brand-new story that follows their 'Verticals' (*cough* cliches *cough). And what are those? Dangerous Love, Hot Encounter, Werewolf...This is what people read nowadays, and it's not what I write.
So, Luminous IS leaving, one way or another. To the 15 people who purchased Luminous: Book 1, if my deal with the publisher goes through, you'll be holding the only 15 copies in the world of this first edition. So, congratulations! As Luminous must be re-published with a new cover, and no more than 10% can be available online.
