In fiction, I focus on urban fantasy and playful mayhem. I am the author of the YA Valhalla series and Rhythm. My short story, “Spooky Sweet,” appeared in THIRTEEN—the 2013 speculative fiction anthology published by the Northwest Independent Writers Association Anthology.
My articles and essays have appeared in The Oregonian, The Christian Science Monitor, Salon.com, The Portland Tribune, The Writer, Religion and Politics, Spirituality & Health, and other print and online publications at home and across the globe. I have interviewed the likes of Robert J. Sawyer, Jim Butcher, Stanley Schmidt, Jay Lake, Deborah J. Ross, Jeff Greenwald, Mike Brotherton, Starhawk, Janet Farrar, Gavin Bone, and Kelly Sue DeConnick.
I attended the Launch Pad Astronomy Workshop for Writers in 2011 (with classmates K.C. Ball, Deborah J. Ross, Liz Gorinsky, An Owomoyela, Cecil Castellucci, Danielle Wolf, and Eric James Stone, among others). I was awarded a journalism fellowship by the International Reporting Project in 2011 to live in Ireland and report on religious diversity in that country. In 2014, I was awarded the inaugural Adam Copeland Award by the Northwest Independent Writers Association for her contributions to NIWA and to indie publishing.
I was the 2013 Director of NIWA’s Seal of Quality program (NSQ) and am the Editor of the 2014 NIWA Anthology.
