— PRIDE MONTH POST —
Hey guys. I know I haven't posted in a long time, but I wanted to bring this up now before June is over. As someone who is genderfluid AND demi-pansexual, Pride month is obviously big to me as a part of the community. That said, the ignorance of (majority) cis heterosexual people to whine about Veterans as an excuse to be homophobic is so fúcking stupid. First of all, Veterans already have THREE months of appreciation and more holidays annually.
April for military kids
May for veteran appreciation
November for veteran family appreciation
Not to mention Memorial Day, Labor day, Veterans day, Armed Forces day, Military spouse day, and many other holidays.
If these people ACTUALLY cared about their military service workers then they'd know this information already. But no, it's ALMOST like they don't really care about veterans until they're can be used as good excuse during pride month to support their own homophobic agendas against our people. Wow, who knew?
Also, don't blame us gay people (umbrella term) for YOU not supporting your own veterans. Most of the lgbt community ALREADY recognizes and supports former and current military officers. If you want May to be as a recognized as a national appreciation month like June then ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! No one said you couldn't have your own veteran pride month parades and use your social media platforms to get the word out like people do during pride month. So go do that during May instead of waiting until June to cry about Veterans and look ignorant and uneducated. Veteran underappreciation wouldn't even be an issue if you made an effort to recognize them everyday like you should.
Finally, I just wanted to say that LGBTQ Veterans and military officers are a thing too. So taking away pride month would only further suppress the veterans that you're so eager to celebrate. Just thought you'd like to know this.
