The clock on the wall didn't pause, not even for a second. Outside, the morning sun broke through the curtains just like it did yesterday, completely indifferent to the quiet emptiness in the room.
Sitting at the table alone felt heavy, like carrying a weight that wouldn't go away. Everything had changed, yet the rest of the world kept turning. Cars still drove by, children still laughed on their way to school, and time kept moving forward.
It was hard-harder than anything before-to step out the front door and face another day without them.
But as the breeze brushed past, bringing a small moment of peace, a quiet realization settled in. Life goes on, not because it forgets who was lost, but because it carries their memory forward, one small step at a time.
