I think we may be down to the final five chapters of Book 1 now, unless I decide to split one or two of them into multiple POVs. I honestly am SO excited for Book 2 and my mind is already racing ahead outlining the plot points.
I really appreciate all of you that have stuck with me this far. I can't believe we're somehow on Chapter 40! I anticipate these final chapters will take slightly longer to make sure I get them right, but I thankfully have some good momentum right now (so not too long!).

Chapter 39 will be posted tomorrow (10/21). I am in the final edits now!
It is the longest chapter so far at about 5.1k words. I am debating splitting it into two chapters to make it a little more digestible. Thoughts?
When I first started writing this story I think the chapters were much shorter (1.5-2.5k words), but somewhere in the middle of the story, the chapters started getting quite a bit longer (2.5k-4k words).
I would love to know if you prefer the story being broken up into more frequent, highly focused short chapters or if it's better to have longer chapters with more plot progression?

So, so glad I was able to get this chapter out before the weekend. Hoping to write Chapter 39 on 10/20 or 10/21, so it shouldn't be long before there is another update.
As a small teaser.. I am planning for the next chapter to be about Beth and the witch doctor.

Okay, so inspiration struck and this chapter was ready sooner than anticipated! Also, if you read my last author update... I decided to write a Troy chapter rather than an Elijah POV. I promise we will get back to him eventually! :)

Chapter 34 was just posted! Unless I'm misremembering, this is the longest chapter so far by quite a bit. It's funny because I actually meant for this one to be a short chapter. The words just kept coming.
I felt like I needed to fill in the blanks on what happened to Erik, so this chapter is more focused on the action and less on the romance. Current plan is for Chapter 35 to be an Elijah perspective and maybe I'll truly actually write a short chapter for that. I am eager to get back to Beth for her next POV!! :)
