Poseidon stands at the edge of the tide, watching the stranger approach without moving to meet them.

“You’ve come a long way to stand in silence,” he says evenly. “So don’t waste it.”

" often seperate , yes but not always . you should know this...uncle . " she hesitated as the words left her lips , like uttering that final word would cause pain , despite a lack of any intention to do so. " i have been part of that chaos ... that madness . i know it well . " she explained with a quiet ease , she didn't make any effort to move towards him , allowing him to breach the gap on his own terms . this was his domain afterall . " charm the ocean ? i am certainly capable but is such a thing possible ? is that a thing that you would even allow ? " she questioned , the spark in her eyes twinkling brighter for a brief moment " a warning ? of what my lord ? " she pressed , tilting her head as a pout formed on her lips " you do not think me here to cause trouble do you ? " she paused , a laugh escaping her " ahh always with the why , does there have to be a reason ? "

Poseidon’s eyes narrowed, just enough to catch the glint of mischief in hers. The sea at his feet shifted, restless but restrained, as if sensing the weight of their exchange.

“Your father?” he repeated, voice low, almost curious, not accusatory. “I thought celebration and chaos were separate things… yet you wear them both so effortlessly.”

He stepped closer, the tide retreating slightly as if yielding space for him alone.

“Do you intend to charm the ocean as easily as you do mortals?” Poseidon asked, gaze steady, measuring her with a patience honed over millennia. “Or is that smile a warning I should heed?”

A pause — the waves whispered at their feet, caught between obedience and curiosity.

“Speak honestly” he said finally, tone even but edged with something deeper. “Why have you truly come to my waters?”

Adara sighed , tilting her head slightly to meet the other's gaze. " i'm sure my lord. " she responded , bowing her head in an offering of her respect , though the grin on her face did not falter , nor the glimmer in her eye. " i am not accustomed to silence. the people do so love my celebrations . " she mused , crossing her arms in front of her as she shifted to watch the waves roll in " i suppose i take after my father in that way . "

Poseidon felt the disturbance in the tide before he even saw them. He emerged slowly from the shallows, water parting around him in deliberate obedience.

“You’ve stepped into a place that doesn’t forgive strangers,” he said, voice calm but heavy. “So tell me — why are you here?”

Adara frowned , lifting her arms to cross over chest " consequences of what ? being unknown ? " she asked , glancing down at the sensation of the water rushing over her feet , raising a brow in questioning as she glanced back up at him , allowing him to advance closer . a gentle sigh escaped her as the water rose , she had not intended this , to be stood in what was almost knee deep water but she made no effort to convey it as a problem. what harm was a little water at the end of the day ? " alright then ! wonderful , so we don't have a problem you and i ? " she exclaimed , laughter bubbling out from her mouth as she spoke , clearly an attempt to lighten the mood , one that fell flat on its face " i joke , of course . " she confessed and sighed " i don't know , perhaps because i've been here before ? " she pointed out " you are upset , lord . that was not my intention . " she muttered with a bow of her head " my name is adara ... perhaps you recognise it . "

The water did not retreat from her the way it did from others.

It lingered — brushing her ankles, curling around her heels with an almost indecent familiarity that made Poseidon pause for the first time since he’d risen from the sea.

Her laugh rode the wind like it belonged there.

“Forgiveness isn’t for crimes,” he replied, eyes narrowing not in threat, but in something closer to suspicion. Curiosity. “It’s for consequences.”

He took a slow step closer. The tide swelled with him, though it never rose high enough to touch her knees — a restraint he had not consciously commanded.

“You’re right,” Poseidon continued. “No law bars you from this shore.” His gaze lingered on the gold flicker in her eyes, the way the air seemed to celebrate around her. “Yet the sea greets you like memory, not intrusion.”

The wind carried faint echoes — distant cheers, joy that did not belong to this lonely stretch of coast — and something in his expression shifted, the storm quieting into a wary stillness.

“So I’ll ask again,” he said, softer now, but no less intent “why does my domain recognise you… when I do not?”

" what is there to forgive ? i see no wrongdoing on my part . " Adara responded , a smile tugging at her lips as she watched on , a flash of gold dancing in her eyes as they filled with mischeivious curiosity " I was not aware that I had been barred from setting foot on beaches. You are more...protective of your domain than i believed you to be " she confessed , running a hand through her hair , tossing it over her shoulder , letting the wind catch it , the faint sound of cheering and celebration filling the air as the wind moved over her . " does there have to be a reason for my presence ? can i not just ... be ? " she grinned
