Hello lovely readers, long time no update!
I'm so sorry for the extended hiatus I've been on. I've been juggling a lot of different things at the moment, many of which I'm very excited to tell you about.

First thing's first, I'm getting published!!! My witchy MM romantasy, A SPELL FOR HEARTSICKNESS, will be releasing October 15th 2024! It follows the story of Briar Wyngrave, an enchanted fashion designer suffering from a curse that's draining his magic, when a prophecy sends him to a rural town to meet the man who could cure him. But it's a bit hard to have a date with destiny when you aren't sure which man that date is with—the handsome alderman with a curse of his own, or the famous healer with an unreadable aura.

I'll post more updates to reveal the cover, preorder dates etc, but this is one of two big reasons I've been so busy. The other is that I've (finally!!) gotten top surgery and HRT. I'm so happy to finally be feeling more like myself.

Which brings me to the last bit of news, which is the final instalments of Neon Rush! I'm so sorry it's been on hiatus this long. Truthfully, NR is one of those stories that was deeply personal and difficult to write sometimes given the delays and hurdles I was going through with my own transition.

My plan, my crazy plan, is to spend this year drafting. I have to write a sequel to A Spell For Heartsickness, the ending of Neon Rush, and the rewrite of Wolf Teeth, which has been using my brain like a chew toy for the past year. All of these are at some state of progress, but my plan is to have them all done and dusted by the end of the year. I know that sounds a long way away, but time is really flying, and I've been managing a pretty steady writing pace after the much-needed break!

In the meantime, thank you all so much for reading my queer books and for supporting and leaving your comments as time goes on. I can't wait to share more of my characters and worlds with you! Much love :)

Hi Alistair, I just finished writing my debut novel, "Mirror, Mirror," which is a fantasy romance between a bi woman and transman. I'm posting it weekly for free on my Patreon. If you have the bandwidth, would you consider adding it to your reading list? As a fellow trans author, your work has been a big inspo for me over the past couple years, and also I genuinely think you might enjoy my book :)! If this interests you lemme know, and I'm happy to share the link.

Also I just saw you have a patreon, so I just subbed!

jasper_savannah

@kataraqui Thank you so much! And no worries, take your time; I know you must be really busy! And I'm happy to support a fellow trans author :). Take care.

@jasper_savannah Oh I'm so glad you've been inspired by my work and written your own! I'd love to read it, though it's super hard for me to fit in new books lately with the schedule I'm currently on. I've added it to my TBR list though as I'd love to read more trans rep/trans authors! Thank you for sharing, I hope you can write many more
And also thanks for subbing to my patreon! I only manage to update on ocassion but really want to do something fun with it.

Hi Alistair! I'm a long time fan of static Crush, and Ive been making a fan Spotify playlist for it while rereading: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0ytCNad7SdyQSu0OUCxnK7?si=lhOndw8fTyq57fH35a4CdQ&pi=JGIqZjWOTcKzg :). Is there a particular piece of art you'd like me to use as the playlist cover? I'll be sure to credit you as the artist and author in the description!

jasper_savannah

@kataraqui woah runaways by sleeping wolf is so good! And I caught the part where they say static crush :). Great playlist; I saved a lot of the songs on it!

@kataraqui omg thanks for sharing! i've saved and will definitely give your playlist a listen. As a fellow writer I LOVE LOVE LOVE creating playlists for my writing projects, and I love listening to playlists that both authors and fans make for the stuff I read :). Thanks for giving my playlist a listen; I love your writing!

@jasper_savannah This is so cool! There are a ton of songs and artists on here I love. Tom Odell, The Lumineers and Autoheart have made it onto some of my own story playlists! I'm gonna give this a listen today while I work :D And in case you were ever curious, I have a Static Crush playlist of my own I listened to obsessively while writing it (I'd say the theme tune that got the most plays was 'Runaways' by Sleeping Wolf, which inspired the title, and 'Contagious' by Night Riots :D https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5Pr1H8MGQPaSLIR94OGkxP?si=d712b705bf7d4091

I just finished reading Static Crush and I have to say that it is one of my favourite books, not just on Wattpad. I hope one day you will be able to publish it because you and the book both deserve it! The writing and world building as well as the character development is amazing
I am really looking forward to reading more of your work.
          Lots of Love!

kataraqui

@lilacsareshit T_T thank you so much for this beautiful comment, I am so happy whenever I hear people love Static Crush so much they'd like it published. I'd really love the same one day! I'm getting published with a different book (A Spell For Heartsickness) so maybe one day Static will make it to shelves as well!

@kataraqui you're very welcome!!

@Juiceee- !!! THANK YOU!!! I never figured it would be the story to make anyone cry because so much of it is silly/funny, but as I get older, I find the stuff that makes me laugh is more likely to make me cry than pure tragedy. I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

Hello Alistair, I just completed one of your book Static Crush and let me tell you it was amazingly penned. I loved it so so
much. Eventhough I see myself as a silent reader but I Couldn't help myself after reading the story between a human and humanoid (it was my 1st such story in the genre science fiction). I loved it so much that i wanted to thank you for not only writing but also sharing it with us.
Tysm. Hope you r doing good:)))

P.s. let me tell u a secret, so I completed this story in 3 days and yesterday I even got a dream about humans turning half android, like with an extra identity and bright eyes in their skulls, it was strange but fascinating to the possibilities of the future universe.

kataraqui

@JyotiSharma842 Oh bless you, thank you so much for breaking silent reader status to tell me how you felt about Static Crush. And your first science fiction story! I hope there are many more in your future; it's such a cool genre to play with. So happy to hear this one could spark your imagination like that <3
