This is just an update for my ONC entry.

So my book "Marked by Innocence" cleared the first screening round for the ONC 2026. I was really hoping that I would be able to complete the next 8k words by the next deadline...but due to my university exams...I am unable to educate any thoughts me to my stories which is why I shall be unpublishing the book until after my exams...and maybe until I actusy revist the it and figure out a much better plot.

@ain23455466 . The only advice I would have for that would be to let your imagination run free. If you think the idea is silly...write it...it will make sense and come together as the plot goes on. Think of your charecters as actual people and not a charecter...that will help provide more depth to your charecters.

With regard to the recent comments about the judges' feedback being "harsh," I'd like to gently clarify something. When an entry is submitted for any category, it's evaluated based on the rubric which was clearly presented. In this particular case, the entry consisted of banners only for the best aesthetic category-so naturally, that is what the judges assessed.

Judges can only judge what's actually there. It wouldn't be reasonable to expect feedback on elements that weren't included
—much like walking into a bakery and asking for a sculpture. The feedback given was direct, fair, and based entirely on the content submitted.

Constructive criticism isn't a personal attack; it's simply part of participating in judged events. Not every critique will feel comfortable, but that doesn't make it unfair.

I would appreciate if this particular contestant would take a moment and actually maybe understand the feedback given, rather than take it as a personal attack.

My genuine question is this: how is an entry supposed to be judged in a category when it doesn't contain the elements required for that category? Maybe before applying for an award that you say "is out for demotivating you", just read the rubric for the category given and if unsure just ask.

Hosts and judges don't bite — at least unt you don't come out of the grave two months later.

Next time if you publicslly accuse someone, don't start the posts with "not to stir drama"; everyone knows that's exactly what you're trying.

This post might stir drama, but hopefully all of you understand both sides of the coin, before formulating opinions.

@VeraChendra some people are just salty about not winning.

I think I've previously posted about this too.
"If you can't handle losing and fair crtiscim about your works, then don't join awards."

It's not fair that because of one's own insecurities they make someone else the villain...people need to know, not everyone is the villain of their story...sometimes they themselves are the villain.

            Thank you. I appreciate this.
I have always strived to be fair and impartial whenever I review something. My feedback is meant to help highlight someone’s strengths and show where they can improve. It’s never done with the intent of hurting someone.
It’s unfortunate that someone can’t see that but it is what it is.
