Just ten minutes back, I was about to open my Wattpad profile in my laptop, and typed in the username on Chrome.
Out of curiosity and for fun, instead of clicking on the URL saved in the history, I google my username followed by 'wattpad.'
As I clicked on the next web pages, I discovered that my works are available on a site called TeenFic, with the same username. Not one or two stories. As far as I've seen, twelve of my books are on the website; even ongoing ones.
When I googled about this, I read that this is an illegal site which doesn't actually copy your content. But they're looking through another webpage or lens.
It's a mirror site and thousands of stories of writers are available there with their exact same username. With the same chapters, reads, and comments.
And being located in places where copyright laws are lenient, they take a long time to be removed.
It is said that the website was taken down for a short time, but it's back again.
We can't really report it, except to Google in its Safe Browsing: Report Page, sign petitions, and make sure that everyone is aware of this. The site also contains malicious software and inappropriate pop-ups.
So be careful where you access the stories to avoid risks of malware, and for writers who put their heart and soul into creating their works.
Thank you for your time reading this. Stay safe, stay gold ♡
