Novelist, Director, Writer, and Producer Ken Bailey. In television Mr. Bailey was a producer on the popular local PBS series, "Houston Remember When", cable series "Easy Growing" and national projects for CBS, History Channel and 48 Hours with Dan Rather. Son of Texas photographer Marvin Bailey (Bob and Marvin Bailey Collection - Briscoe Center for American History) gave him an early appreciation for visual story telling. And it is seen in his films like the award-winning "Tango Nights" and "The Deed - the story of God's Mercy Store." Ken Bailey is the founder of the Texas Christian Film Festival hosted by Houston's Bethany Christian Church. 
In the late 90's Ken made a commitment to focus on writing. First on plays. His musical "Christmas, Party of One" premiered to sold-out audiences during a six-week run in Houston and continues on to entertain and encourage across the country. Then the novel. His novel, "I Flunked Sunday School", returned him to film where the movie version won best feature film at Secret City Film Festival in Tennessee. 
In non-fiction "Personal Jesus - Focusing on Only the Words of Jesus" was a special project he completed with his oldest granddaughter Emily. 
The newest project is also closed to his heart. Set in Vietnam and Texas during the turbulent 60's "Dancing with Baptists" is the fictional story of the struggle of a young medic to get a personal apology from Southern Baptists for his Black chaplain friend and for the treatment African Americans had received in the denomination's early history and beyond. 
For Christmas Ken is making his popular musical-comedy into a novella entitled, "Manger in the Mall." The story of two aging Baby Boomers who are outraged at the overlooking of the Christ-child at their local mall. Unfortunately their booth, "Picture Yourself with Jesus" is not the life-changing event they had hoped would happen.
