Hi everyone,
I know I've gone AWOL for years but I can explain! First of all, my name is Amanda Obando. I moved to college from Central America in 2015, and went through waaaay too much. Particularly, I was dealing with the emotional trauma from some homophobic issues from back home and ended up having depression. Out of that, I was unable to read and write - I could literally not read more than a sentence at a time nor write more than a paragraph.
But the good side of this is that I decided to explore other artistic interests. I ended up taking up dance and photography. Now my expertise is on Dance Photography. At least, that's what I want to be in the future, a dance photographer. On the other hand, I also like interviewing and writing stories with my photographs and I am looking forward to publishing that work. I am also planning on coming out publicly soon because that hasn't been a thing for years. That means I will be tackling queer issues in my work. I also have a film that I made on queer bodies which will be up on my website soon. So, if you would like to continue support me, please follow my instagram at @aopanda. I will also love to answer your questions and maybe meet you guys whenever I travel!
STATIC was such an experience. It was my broken heart being poured in public during highschool, and it made me feel vulnerable and appreciated. Now, that's what I'm doing with my photographic work and it's all thanks to this experience that I realized I CAN push myself hard. Thank you all so much.
With a lot of love,
Amanda
