A Poem About Leelah Alcorn, R.I.P. ♥

If I were a girl, I would grow my hair out and tie it in two tails.
I would call myself a female but I'm just too scared.
I would put on all these cosmetics; from lipsticks to blush and bronze.
I would even do it now just cause I don't feel good enough.
I would buy so many stuffed animals and hold them close and tight.
And even though they don't hug back, they're all I have tonight.
I would try out for the cheerleading squad because I know I would pass their test.
But sadly I don't have the right body, and society would just call me a mess.
I would tie my hair up in a bun and wear a bra and not forget to smile.
But that's not the person who I grew up as, it's the person I'd tell myself to hide.
I would take more time to dress myself and polish all my nails.
But that wouldn't be acceptable because, people still call me a male.
