his smile tightened , but he made no comment on the arrogant remark. "it's quite confidential — I hope you understand."

"I'm assisting on a case." he spoke calmly. "I am supposed to be here — are you?"

" tell me… is this the part where you diagnose me , or the part where you realize you can’t ? "

"you have quite the mindset there." a warped one at that. had this man been in a clinical setting before? what had formed these thoughts? the questions clouded his mind. he was intrigued.

"most would say the power lies strictly in the hands of the patient. they control what we discuss — when we start and when we stop." hannibal just .. altered the sessions of certain patients. the ones he felt needed an extra boost to reach their full potential.

"is it not common sense that words are unable to halt a bullet? no matter what you know about yourself , you're not immortal. a diagnosis is only a target if you allow it to / be / one." hannibal found that his patients grew to function better with their diagnosis' after being given them. you had no way of knowing what type of bandage you needed until you properly assessed the wound.

hannibal looked at this man , studied him , and concluded that not even stitches would close the gaping wound he possessed. "are you so weak that you would be unable to handle it?"

[ Lucian didn't move. He remained a shadow pinned against the wall, his silhouette sharp and unyielding. He watched the man’s grin with a flat, dead-eyed stare, unimpressed by the attempt at rapport. To Lucian, the fact that the man was a psychiatrist meant nothing more than a different set of risks to mitigate. ] " You're right. You aren't my psychiatrist, " [ Lucian said, his voice dropping into a low, gravelly hum that felt like a warning. He let his gaze drift slowly from the man’s eyes to the door, then back again a deliberate, silent inventory of his surroundings. He didn't care about the man's "knowing" look; he only saw a man who was far too comfortable in a room with a killer. A faint, rhythmic tap of his index finger against the seam of his trousers was the only sign of his impatience. ] " Most people in your profession think that naming a thing gives them power over it, " [ he continued, his expression remaining a frozen mask of indifference. ] " But a diagnosis doesn't stop a bullet, and 'bringing things to light' just makes for a clearer target. "

his lips turned in a slight grin — amused , knowing. people like this were always so .. unique. so sure of themselves.

"everyone has a diagnosis , most just wish to avoid it. that being said , I am not your psychiatrist. I have no reason to bring to light what you undoubtedly already know."
