Elizabeth Andrews born 1882 died 1960 is a Welsh politician and suffragist born in Hirwaun in the Rhondda and was the first female organiser of the Labour Party in Wales. She came from a coal mining family as she represented the working-class women in Wales. In 1935, she had another ``first'' - the first nursery school in Wales was opened at Llwynpia. This is another attribute to her energy and foresight. In all things she was a woman of her times, and a woman ahead of her times. 
          	The statue of Elizabeth Andrews, the champion of workers' and women's rights and our final Monumental Welsh Woman, was unveiled at the Rhondda Heritage Park in South Wales on June 25th 2026.
