story #2 draft
“You missed the bus,” he pointed out. “I did.” she shrugged.
“Why didn’t you run?” Michelle gave him a dry laugh. “I don’t run for the bus. Another is gonna come; maybe not on time, but eventually, it’ll come,” She got up and walked towards the pay phone. “What you doing?” “I’m calling in to tell them that I’m gonna be late” “What? Nah, hop in; I’ll take you,” Michelle looked at Cash’s car and then him and shook her head at him. “No, thank you,” as she dug through her purse for a quarter. “It’s eight thirty-two and you’re supposed to be there by, lemme guess, nine-thirty. With the bus alone, that’s a forty-five-minute commute and the next bus doesn’t for another twenty,” “Which is exactly why I’m calling in to tell them I’ll be late” she said picking up the pay phone.
“I just wanna help you, alright? I know you might hear about me but I just wanna make sure you’re not missing out on any money.” she hummed. “And what about all these other people here waiting for the bus?” “Would you please accept the ride?” Michelle hesitantly hung the phone up on the receiver and turned to him. “Where’s your car?” she sighed.
