My sister married a Brit. They had a small flat in London before his career took off like a rocket.

I remember being surprised at a few things, like the idea of paying for TV service. Since cable has replaced broadcast TV, we now pay a monthly service fee too. It was once wierd to think of buying a TV and then paying to use what you already own.

Another difference is how commercials are done in different countries. In the US, they are short clips of about 30 seconds usually. An hour long TV show will have several commercial breaks sprinkled through it. (l expect that can affect the pacing of the story being shown.) I seem to remember hearing that elsewhere commercials are longer -almost mini-short programs themselves. They are grouped all at the end/beginning between programs. I'm not sure if that is true, is that how they do it where you live?
