/   quick rant.  i somewhat dislike the way gege has boiled her down to a love interest.  she's very clearly portrayed as someone who is deemed helpless by most , and the impression she gives is just as such.  heartbroken , desperate , tragic.
          
          even way before the seen was animated and i was reading the manga, it really did annoy me to see miwa try and fight kenjaku only to have her sword caught with his bare hand and shattered.  probably the most disrespectful move you can pull on a sword wielding character.
          
          i would have loved to see some sort of break- through from her , and i sincerely thought we were going to get one with the speech she had made before striking her sword at kenjaku. 
          
          apparently she had made a binding vow and i won't go into detail about that but when her sword shattered she pretty much lost all her power.
          
          and i understand why people say she's useless and deserves more pain.  because that is how gege has written her ; a ditzy girl who barely has enough to save herself.
          
          unless some miracle happens, i know she is pretty much irrelevant to the manga plot as of now.  and i reall find it sad because she's my girl :(
          
          miwa is the kind of character written to be related to with her tragic backstory.  also your typical love interest type of girl.  she smiles a lot , has long flowing hair , speaks with a polite tongue , ditzy.  but seeing her sacrifice herself just to provide for her family really makes me think that there's more to her than just being "useless miwa" or "mechamaru's love interest."
