( @knifewound ) the original announcement started off with a simple quote about them being engaged, and i did see your reply, which is why i mentioned the going over the top part. but since you put that simple quote about them being engaged in the original announcement, it made it seem as if it was stupid of people being excited about their engagement, especially with your “ok and?” afterwards. as for travis, i couldn’t give two fucks about him. but i am happy for taylor. i don’t wanna argue about this and i wasn’t trying to be rude, i was just trying to understand why it’s an issue for people to be excited about them being engaged. fans of taylor have seen her go through years of different relationships that didn’t work out, so them being excited that she’s finally getting married (which was part of the reason her last relationship didn’t work out—her ex didn’t want to get married) isn’t odd. and you saying “what’s so special about their engagement” as if they aren’t celebrities and are the only celeb couple who has ever been celebrated by the public for getting engaged/married lmao. yes, people do get engaged every day—in fact, i celebrated two engagements and weddings in my family this year—but that doesn’t mean people can’t be excited about it just because the couple are celebrities.
i do agree someone people could tone it down a bit bc i find parasocial relationships incredibly odd, but some people are extremely emotional when it comes to things like this, celebrities or not. no one should be shamed for their reaction to something.
