Dear Writers
Assume you were just asked to read your friend/sibling/family/strangers story and tell them what you think about it. You didn't like it but tell that person 'yeah it was great' or 'can't wait to continue reading it later' just so that they wouldn't feel bad
N O
That's not what you do!
Be honest about your opinion. Tell them what they need to improve instead of playing it off with 'it's amazing'. I have seen many people do this and it is very disappointing to see because that specific story is genuinely in need of a lot of improvement.
As an individual writer, I was also told these kinds of things at the beginning even though I was extremely bad at writing. I had no flow and my sentences were terrible and cringy. I re-read my entire story and thought 'why would people even read this'
I thought that if someone had told me that my writing needed improvement or gave me constructive criticism on it back then maybe, I could've written it much better. I really did feel very bad. That is actually one of the main reasons why I made this account
So please, don't lie to someone saying that their writing is amazing when it is clearly missing a lot of commas everywhere. The happiness from the fake compliment you give them will only last a few seconds, but the truth you tell them could help them for the rest of their life
Thank you for your time,
Please share this so that people can be aware of the consequences of their actions even though they are out of nothing but kindness (or perhaps laziness)
