@OrcaAndTheFox sorry for being late in my reply. Thank you so much for leaving a comment about your thoughts on the published version!
I'm glad you enjoyed the novel even though you knew the major twists. I tried to preserve as much of the original plot as possible. Hopefully, seeing how these twists were executed was still entertaining for you, even though you knew what was going to happen!
I made my changes to Erin after my editor pointed out after reading the original, "Why wouldn't someone have killed Erin by now, even if killing a pack member was 'illegal'? Someone would have done it regardless." Instead of making him definitively an Eclipse Wolf, I added ambiguity to justify why he was still alive. I made unshifting wolves a separate thing that was rare but sometimes occurred, and then made an Eclipse Wolf this mythical monster. I wanted to keep the reader wondering about whether he was or wasn't throughout the novel.
Because of the change to the plot, it made sense for him to be more of a bookish character. Ironically, the fight scenes became longer and more dramatic after rewriting, even though he's no longer a trained fighter. I wanted the focus to be on Marius and Erin, and I introduced them much sooner into the story. Marius's Lycan blessing is now less of a boon to him, and he and Erin need to rely more on cunning to get what they want.
The ending was the biggest thing in need of fixing, both in terms of pacing and content. I realized Marius and Erin in the original were dooming themselves to repeat certain mistakes that had been made in the past (keeping it vague to avoid spoilers). I also didn't want to keep the "we found out the truth and everything is okay now" ending I'd originally written. Things aren't perfect at the end of the new book, but Erin and Marius's situation is certainly better.
Thank you again for buying and reading the new copy, it means the world to me! ❤️
