Rather than writing, I have been voluntarily editing for free for a handful of people.
One of whom has recently apologized to me for never posting his works (that I have edited) to share with others, as he always originally intended, due to the fact that he jumps from writing one story to the next because he can't bring himself to come to a conclusion like "The End". "The End" is not something he ever wants to feel towards his stories, and he can never find that good stopping point that leaves a reader satisfied with a story; because he imagines his characters to live on and the only true ending is when they die. Which would be a horrible thing to do to readers. He does not want to be know as the heartless guy famous for killing his treasured characters.
I realized that he summed up one of my own issues with writing. I told him to never apologize for not posting what I edit, and thanked him for sharing the joys of his writing process with me; I may have also told him that I am a selfish person and so long as I got to experience his story, I don't really care if other people do, unless it is something that really matters to him. Then I will dredge up the effort need to be willing to ensure others get to read his stuff too. That if he ever tells me to push him to actually publish, he better try to prepare himself to be hit by a proverbial snow plow.
Also, I wish certain websites did not take down so many stories... I really enjoyed editing for two people who stopped posting online due to this. One story they wrote together about a jaded male Japanese salary man being abducted and unwillingly turned into a cat girl, was hilarious and... shall we say, jolting. They told me their purpose in writing this particular story was to OFFEND people... That was truly their goal. It was very unique and controversial and very in your face about ridiculous cliches, plot lines, taboos, desensitizing, and generalizations, and they had soo much stocked up that they just... deleted....

I have one chapter for short stories that I was going to post several times, but I change something every time I see it. I have now decided to expand upon it and flesh things out more before worrying about posting.
I have another chapter started, and I feel it too may end up being a bit longer.
I also have ideas for another 4 chapters, but so far only got the titles down because I haven't had the time to do more.

Mikki-Senpai

His broad shoulders were clear in the outline of his robes, but his fit figure only glimpsed through his partially opened shirt. With light colored hair cut short his dark eyes became even more prominent. Yet his most attractive feature was the toothy grin that grew even wider when he saw you. He hurries over to you before you can make a move and holds your hands securely, yet gently within his.

“Thank you, Missy! I don’t usually do this but my Master told me you were a fan and, well…” He paused. A slight blush crept over his face. In contrast to his playboy smile he really did seem nervous, “She said that it was because of fans like you that she continued writing my story. Without you I would never have met my darling, Tofu.” His blush grew all the way to his ears and he looked away, “For that, I could never thank you enough. Thank you for giving my Master strength with your encouragement that it would even encourage her to create me and Tofu.”

His blush faded as a clever smile took over his features, “Though it seems I’ve caught you, as well, my little missy.” He brought your hands to his lips and kissed your fingers through his ever so gently, “Of all those i’ve loved, male or female, you are quite special, aren’t you? Though I’d never cheat on my tofu…” He glances you up and down as if thinking about it.

“Huan Huan, stop flirting with the readers.”

“Yes, Master.” The man, Huan Huan, tossed you one last smirk before letting go of your hands and walking off.

I shake my head at him, “I’m sorry about him… But he is right, you know. Everyone who votes or adds my story to a list… Well, I couldn’t have done it without you. I honestly can’t express my thanks enough. Really, I mean it. Thank you.”

Working while sleep deprived is always unpleasant; But I find it to be even more so when you are called in on your day off... Especially when it means you will be getting home about 24hrs exactly after you first woke up... So much for getting any writing done this Saturday...

I don't do talk-to-text, it is way too unreliable. Plus I use my craptop to write. Sarcastic butt.

@kuroazul Just write while you drive next time, everyone else seems to do it.
Writing while driving home from work after being awake for 24 hours seems like it would be quite enjoyable to me.

This is an example of a story-starter I made to help me explain to a friend what a high fantasy book is like
          Of Elves and Others:
After the Elves successfully colonized the continent on the planet that one of their recent portals opened up to, they began bringing in slaves, pets, and prey from all of the other dimensions with no regard to the rules and regulations of spreading non-indigenous species.
Seemingly out of the blue, the Military of the Realms (Mors) invaded and began to purge, leading to the Age of Grief.
The peoples who considered this planet to be their home rose up, overthrew the Elven government on their planet, and continue to this day to thwart the Mors’ purge.
After the Age of Grief; Humans, Dwarves, Vampires, Weres (werewolves, leopards, foxes, bears, crocodiles, swans, etc.), Herds (Centaurs, Unicorns, etc.), and Water Dwellers (Mermaids, Kappas, etc.) formed alliances that became an entangled web that holds together the state of the world today.
Though sentient, Dragons are not included in the alliances; Dragons of land are enslaved, Dragons of water are hostile, and Dragons of air are rumored extinct or to have left the planet altogether.
Elves are now a myth, Legend to the common populace. They are few and in hiding.
Kingdoms, Dynasties, Empires, and Territories have arisen and fallen until now, where six of the planets continents are well populated and are focusing on technological or magical advancement."
