by the way if anyone wants to know why “it ends with us” shouldn’t be loved by impressionable teenagers or be using ‘strangers’ by ethel cain in its trailer, here’s an article for some answers…

@crudelove there’s not an article for the song (that i know of), but the song itself does have similar themes to the book in that it depicts a relationship built on abuse and sa, but each song portraying the character “ethel cain” portrays a deeper story that people often misinterpret because they’ve only listened to one or two songs from the album, with the character inevitably dying and then cannibalised by her partner, ‘strangers’ shouldn’t be used because although it does hold some similarities the overall stories and endings are completely different, the book itself is about a character who could have on multiple occasions left her abusive relationship because she had the means to do so and yet when she did finally have the courage to leave after her husband physically abused her multiple times and calmly calculated to sexually abuse her, she still chose to allow that man to be in her child’s life when she had the authority to deny it, ethel cain did not have these opportunities and her story of abuse is different (as everyone’s stories are), however, i do acknowledge that ethel cain would have given her permission to use the song (i believe, unless her producers/agent had the say instead which i don’t know) and i hope none of this sounds rude or interpreted as talking down to anyone, here’s a tiktok where someone talks about it better than me, again sorry if i sound condescending i never know how people interpret the things i say and never want to offend or upset anyone, i may not like coho’s books but i’d never hate on her as it’s not fair.

@harringtonssss @gryzons literally sounds like a replacement for y/n in old x reader stories or a name that would have been used in old (2014-2017) wp boyband fanfics or something, ‘after’ would’ve been a hundred times funnier than it was if that would’ve have been the mc’s name, not that the film series wasn’t already an unhinged comedy that made me cringe so hard i didn’t make it past the first ten minutes
