New story in progress! Here is a sneak peek!!
Boom went the cannon, signaling that the latest beheading victim was gone. The woman sank to the floor. She was next. The guards came and got her. Led her through the gate, up the stairs, to the scaffold. Staring at the crowd with her icy blue gaze she took off her cloak, her necklace, her hood, earrings until she stood there only in a white cap and black dress.
"I am not guilty but I will die happy knowing that I must." She cried, clasping her shaking hands. "The gods know the only crime I have committed is not having a son! Condemned by a man who claimed to love me! I will die willingly with my blood staining the hands of you! My poor daughter! My poor friends! Goodbye my darling! Goodbye world! I shall not see you!" The crowds roared in dissaproval. A single tear tickled down her cheek for all that she lost. And with that, she knelt down, staring up at the sky, hearing the ching of the sword as it was taken out of its sheath.
"I ask that you pardon me, madam, for what I must do." the axeman said. She nodded.
"Make it quick." she said grimly. She heard a faint gunshot. Her child was safe. She smiled, as the blade bit through her skin, slicing her head off.
