            Everyone assumes that Elena is permanently dead.
            But her death triggers something the kidnappers never anticipated.
            Because Elena's blood has been mixed with the supernatural blood of her unborn child or children throughout the pregnancy, her body undergoes a supernatural transformation after death. The blood of her children doesn't simply preserve her life it rebuilds her.
            Elena's body begins to heal.
            Her heart starts beating again.
            Her wounds disappear.
            Her supernatural senses become stronger than they have ever been.
            And when Elena finally opens her eyes, she is no longer the same person she was before the pregnancy.Elena has become a Tribrid. The transformation is different from Jeremy's. Jeremy became a Tribrid because the kidnappers artificially introduced the unborn child's blood into his body. Elena, however, carried the children inside her for the entire pregnancy. Their blood, magic, and supernatural nature became permanently connected to her.
            As a result, Elena becomes the original Tribrid, possessing the combined powers of a:
            Vampire
            Witch
            Werewolf
            But Elena's version of the Tribrid is even more powerful because she isn't merely receiving the children's blood—she gave birth to the source of it.

@latrina05 The transformation also produces another unexpected result. Unlike normal vampires, Heretics, or hybrids, Katherine, Olivia, and Jeremy can walk in sunlight without daylight rings. Their new abilities come directly from the supernatural properties of Elena's unborn child's or children's blood.
            The kidnappers therefore discover that Elena's unborn child or children possess blood capable of fundamentally rewriting a supernatural creature's nature. Depending on the person receiving the blood—whether they are human, witch, werewolf, vampire, hunter, or another supernatural being—the blood can potentially transform them into a hybrid, Heretic, or Tribrid.

@latrina05 Elena becomes pregnant with a child or children whose blood has an unprecedented supernatural ability. Because Elena is already a supernatural being, her unborn child or children inherit a unique combination of supernatural traits. The kidnappers discover that the unborn children’s blood may be capable of transforming ordinary supernatural beings into entirely new types of creatures.
            The kidnappers abduct Elena, Jeremy, Katherine, and Olivia because they want to conduct an experiment. Their goal is to prove that the blood of Elena’s unborn child or children can create hybrids, Heretics, and even Tribrids.
            While Elena is being held captive, the kidnappers use a syringe to extract blood from her abdomen, specifically obtaining blood connected to the unborn child or children. They then inject that blood into Jeremy, Katherine, and Olivia, hoping it will permanently alter their supernatural nature.
             force the transformations to happen, the kidnappers deliberately trigger their deaths. Jeremy and Olivia are killed and brought back in a state where they must complete the transition by feeding on blood. Katherine is also killed, with her heart being removed as part of the experiment.
            
            When all three awaken, they discover that the experiment has worked.
            
            They feed on Elena's blood, completing their transformations. However, the results are different for each of them:
            
            Katherine becomes a Heretic, gaining both vampire abilities and the ability to practice magic.
            Olivia also becomes a Heretic, giving her the same combination of witch and vampire abilities.
            Jeremy becomes something even rarer: a Tribrid, possessing the powers of a vampire, witch, and werewolf.

I have not made it far. This story was five years old.
