          So what is MMIW? Indigenous children and women are still disappearing and being found missing or murdered. 
          In 2016 alone, there were 5712 Police reports of missing indigenous women/girls and only 116 of them were registered. 
          
          The number of missing indigenous women/girls each year has not decreased significantly since then. 
          It's obvious that this topic is so hidden and suppressed, especially since I bet one in two of you reading this have never heard of MMIW. 
          
          The fact that over 5000 women/children from the same population group disappear every year is no coincidence and it gets worse.
          
          The American Supreme Court wants to eliminate the ICWA "Indian Child Welfare Act" of 1978, which was enacted to ensure that every effort is made to keep indigenous children in their communities. This means we will see the story we saw in Anne with an E repeat itself. We can't let that happen. 
          
          So I seriously urge you, the 2-3 people reading this, to get informed and talk about it. This is the best you can do.
          
          When are we finally ready to fight for a new future with justice?

          What people don’t know and often don‘t want to see is that from that day in 1492, a nightmare began for indigenous people, that has not stopped to this day. 
          
          I have already said in my Gilbert Blythe ff that Anne with an e pointed out another issue. A cruel act by the American and Canadian government. 
          In the late 19th century, indigenous children were torn from their families, tribes and societies and placed in so-called "residential schools". 
          They were not allowed to speak their native language or live out their culture. Survivors say they were beaten and tied to their beds. They had needles shoved in their tongues when they spoke their native language. 
          And others don't even want to tell what happened to them or are unable to because it was so cruel. 
          
          In 2022, there were 4130 names registered of indigenous children who died in these schools under these terrible conditions and, above all, from diseases caused by the non-existent health care.

          A few days ago was MMIW-awareness day
          
          So I will use this to explain to you MMIW. This is part 1 as there is probably not enough space for one post to explain everything.

          I think everyone of you knows Columbus. If you still think Columbus was a totally smart man who discovered America and made peace with the native people there and they most certainly willingly shared all their treasures with him and converted to his religion, then I'm not sorry to tell you that this mindset is stupid and I’m more than ready to enlighten you to the contrary.
          
          Columbus was a barbarian. He enslaved people and killed countless of them not only as a deterrent, but also from the numerous diseases he and his men brought ashore. He forced Christianity on them and "converted" them to the faith before he then killed them .
