Writing is a difficult art and progress cannot be made without input from the readers. Sometimes, obvious flaws stare you in the face and you may not see it. Your input is most valuable.
The easiest plotline is to have a likable protagonist and from the start get her in trouble and continue to increase the pressure until the final resolution.
The most helpful book I have read on writing is Techniques of the Selling Writer by Dwight Swain. It is becoming a bit old but most of the writing help is still valid. If you can catch hold of a copy, try it out.
