Kia ora. I'm an adventurous, imaginative and passionate English teacher at a small-town high school in New Zealand.
I've written a children's book, lots of poetry, and I've started a couple of dozen novels, though not managed to finish one yet. I'm hoping to start writing more short stories.
My favourite authors are Ihimaera, Zusak, Courtenay and poets like Glück, Popa and Tuwhare.
I love stories with strong female characters and children's POV, as well as biographies, a bit of fantasy/whimsy and ideas that make me think and wonder for hours.
I struggle to read anything with spelling, punctuation or grammatical errors - I do that every day at work, I don't want to waste my downtime with it. I find it really distracting and stops me enjoying the story. Edit, edit and edit again. You should spend more time re-writing than getting down the first draft if you want me to read your work.
I look forward to joining the community here, discovering new writers and stories, and getting to know people.
