Dear all, I hope, during these strange times we are living in, that you are well. If like me, you are living in a lock-down where normality has been abandoned, I hope that you will take the time to enjoy my new story. I will, just like my Victorian counterparts, publish one chapter a week. It has been two years since I have posted anything on Wattpad. I like to make sure that I have a decent amount written before I post. There is nothing more annoying than reading an incomplete story.
I have chosen Lord Ralph Fullbrook, Earl of Huntingdon, the brother of Alex Fullbrook from "A Season", to be the hero of this story. All my books are connected in some way, and I pick a character from the previous book to weave a story around them. He is a man with a rakish reputation that he has carefully cultivated over the years. However, as always, you should never judge a book by its cover, a mistake made by the heroine, Mrs Helen Wakefield.
Helen, who has been the put-upon companion of Lady Helford, has spent years trying to suppress her feelings. Her first husband abandoned her in Spain, where she had to learn how to survive in a world full of men. Living with Lady Helford is not easy, but if she wants to see her son, she must obey the woman's every command.
Helen and Ralph find that they both share feelings of intense loneliness and begin an affair. However, just as Helen thinks that she has a future with Ralph, a man from her past comes to claim a promise she made many years ago.
I hope that my story is a little escape from the news stories that continually plague us. I purposefully set them in a time where there is no social media or other distractions of the world around us. I try to make my heroines women that we can relate to today. In essence, we are the same, whatever country we come from or the time we live in. We love, hate, gossip, laugh and cry just like they did two hundred years ago.
I hope you enjoy the story and keep safe.
Liese
