your prayers won’t work here. i’ve warded this place against every holy being other than god himself.

@wiccaanways you know better than anyone that not everyone who knows of the faith actually follows it. a weak mind is a weak exorcist. a weak exorcist is a dead one. [her head gives a slight tilt. eyes narrowed, smile pulled tight. she wasn’t offended, not yet] you’re making fun of me…because i’m curious? [there was more to it than that. it was the thrill of the hunt. the power she felt when strong beings like those demonic forces fell to their knees—crumbling to their deaths. had it been people, she would have just the same amount of blood on her hands as him… maybe even more] don’t be, someone always dies.

someone’s elitist. they shared your mission, your religion— just not your title or power and that makes them less than. [ he hums. his eyes remain fixed on her for any sudden moves, anything that would be deemed a visible threat, right now all he noticed was the arrogance and the way they all turned down their noses. his nail brushes against the wall, barely making a scratch in the marble walled mausoleum he’d warded so perfectly. ] interesting. [ his eyes flit to the ground, shaking his head, he couldn’t help but properly show the amusement in his eyes. ] i thought it would take much more to lure you in here. i mean— someone of your caliber falling for what’s essentially glorified breadcrumbs is (…) almost too easy. i’m disappointed.

@wiccaanways mm, the ‘independents’. [anyone that had no ties to the society. was a fraud. santoire found it valid enough within herself to look down on them just by that fact. if they failed, they were unqualified. if they were unqualified they allowed innocent lives to remain in danger] no, they didn’t send me. [arms folded, she too stepped forward. not hesitant but unhurried. further and further until she passed by him, inspecting the walls again] i saw you. or—rather, the aura that follows you. [she dips her chin, turning on her heel to face him] same as the angels on the walls … what’s left of them.

[ ᵀHE SURNAME SANTOIRE IS THOUGHT TO HAVE ORIGINATED IN FRANCE FROM THE OLD FRENCH WORD “SANTOIR,” MEANING “SANCTUARY” OR “HOLY PLACE.” THIS SUGGESTS THE NAME MAY HAVE BEEN GIVEN TO INDIVIDUALS WHO LIVED NEAR A SACRED SITE OR HELD A RELIGIOUS ROLE. / IT MAY ALSO BE AN ALTERED FORM OF THE ITALIAN SURNAME SANTORE, WHICH IS CONNECTED TO THE LATIN WORD “SANCTORUM” (“OF THE SAINTS”). THE NAME SANTORO, A RELATED NAME, ALSO MEANS “OF THE SAINTS,” OFTEN GIVEN TO A CHILD BORN ON ALL SAINTS’ DAY]

ᴬND I HEARD THE VOICE OF THE LORD SAYING: WHOM SHALL I SEND? AND WHO WILL GO FOR US? and i said: HERE I AM, SEND ME. (ISAIAH 6:8)
⠀‎ ‎ ᵉⁿᵗᵉʳ [THE VESSEL OF GOD] ¹ ⠀⠀⠀ ‎ ‎ ‎“ᵈᵉᵘˢ ⁿᵒⁿ ᵉˢᵗ ʰⁱᶜ” A voice deep and hoarse and reeling of agony, forced itself out of lips that did not belong to it. The child, pale, cold and frothing with spit and bile, HISSED BLASPHEMIES HIS LITTLE MIND SHOULD NOT EVER KNOW. the thing inside was afraid——cornered like a rabid dog. THAT, MADE IT ANGRY. Before it, was a woman. She had seen cases like these before——each of them disastrous to the mind and terrible for the family. yet, she was not afraid. She knew the demon by name, and she knew it’s only weakness—a name.
⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ From the palm of her hands, a bright thread sprouted, bloomed—her eyes shining gold. Some had called it magic—some, called it the power of God. It was what would set apart the society from all the other religious orders. [Santoires,] The beacons of light. The protectors of both the sinners and the saints——The destroyers of the damned
