i know you don't know me but i'm begging you to read the first chapter of FERRYMAN
          
          it's literary war fiction about a silent ferryman who once walked into the river to die and was refused, a warlord's wife carrying a body and a secret, and an eleven-year-old who survived being a soldier and cannot stop talking
          
          the prose is doing things i'm genuinely proud of
          
          just the first chapter. if you hate it i'll never bother you again
