snippet of my new and improved Seeing Through Their Eyes: OakClan
"Oh," I said in a slightly dampened tone. "Will I be able to protect the clan?"
"I sure will!" my sister meowed before Mother could answer. "I'm gonna pounce on the warriors of CloudClan!"
"You will surely not do that."
A big tom walked in, one that looked like my brother. His bushy tail swung in annoyance and wrecked the entrance of the nursery.
My sister yelped in fear and ran close to my mother, and I did the same. I didn't like the glint in the big tom's eyes.
"What's the problem, kits?" he asked sarcastically. "You're ten moons now! You should be big and brave!"
"They're just little she-kits," Mother meowed quietly.
But not quiet enough.
The smaller cat growled and swiped at me, grabbing me by my scruff. I screamed in terror, flailing my paws around.
"Leave her alone!" My mother screamed. Instead of complying, the bigger tom pinned her down, claws unsheathed.
"Put her down!"
"Shut up," the bigger cat growled, nicking her leg. A pool of blood started oozing from the wound.
My brother had been crouching at the corner, his eyes wide with fear. The smaller cat noticed him.
Dropping me, he said, "Why doesn't the only tom in this stupid litter choose? He's got to learn how to command these females as soon as possible, anyway."
The bigger cat nodded slowly. "Good idea, Brambletail. The sooner, the better."
The cat who must be named Brambletail walked up to my brother, his startlingly bright eyes boring into him. "Would you like to spare your littermates? Or do we just finish them off now?"
"Please don't kill them!" he stammered, his little body starting to shake.
The bigger cat sighed, making a tsk noise. "Oh, well. At least we can add to our collection. Come on, Brambletail. I'm going to call the ceremony."
