⠀— ⠀... ⠀ 03 —      THINGS TO DO 
            ───          it’s not really home, but it’s somewhere warm.   pulling your shirt over your head as the other children around you began to run about,  your eyes watching closely.   in this place the children get picked to go to new homes,  it’s cool to see but ..  hard to stomach when nobody picks you again.  you keep your hands in your pockets,  bite the inside of your mouth,  ignore the overstimulating feelings in your skin.  they told you to stay still, don’t speak, quit making noises and being out of turn.   
            
            ⏝⠀04 —       but maybe.. you are lovable.   maybe people really do love you for you.  sitting across from a lady with a kind smile , she talks to you about your interest and all the things that make you smile and physically express your happiness.   a large smile comes to your face and she laughs,  happy to be in the room with you.  before you knew it..   you were being taken home.  home.  ahhh.  weird word. her hands are gentle as she leads you to your room,  lays you down then tucks you in.  for once, the world feels completely warm.

01 —      BE MEAN TO ME 
            
             ⌒ㅤ        POVERTY.    living everywhere that gave some kind of warmth ,  blisters drag across the ground and dirty fingers cling to the cold hand of a woman’s face that you just couldn’t seem to remember.         /          a cold hand holds a card,  the ones you’ve seen people use when they want to go somewhere…   on a train maybe?  yeah,  looks like a train.     but there’s only one.
            ✦⠀⠀⌢           02 —        your stomach hurts and she’s been gone for a while now ,  yet you stand on the edge of the track and wait.   you keep waiting.  waiting.  coughing into your elbow as the dust blows ,  your lungs start to burn a little more than they used to when you were younger.   back then before your father disappeared,  he told you that your mother hadn’t been the most responsible when you were in her stomach—    you didn’t understand until now.
