Hey there, Im Alaska. Yes, I realize Alaska is an odd name, and No, I'm not lying. My parents actually named me Alaska.
Anyways, Im sixteen years old and I live in North Carolina. I am a junior in high school, and I have a great group of friends and a very loving & caring boyfriend.
I first started writing when I was five, I was diagnosed with a semi-malignant tumor in the left ventricle of my heart. I've probably spent about 1/6 of my life in a hospital since that diagnoses. I've gone through 34 surgeries and over a hundred treatments since. In this time in the hospital, I would make up stories in my head. I eventually started writing them out in journals. Im not the best writer, but I enjoy it.
The tumor hasn't really stopped me much in life. I run cross country (when I can) and Im the captain of my school's varsity volleyball team. Im second in my junior class & I am always traveling the country going to children cancer wards to tell them my story and how I live a happy (and very successful, I may add) life. My tumor is currently dormant and I'm doing really well. After high school, I plan to attend Columbia for pre-grad and Stanford for medical school, as I plan to become a surgeon (Its pretty easy to get into a college if you're had cancer the past eleven years of your life & you continue to stay academically and athletically successful.)
So thats basically it, I plan to be writing here, and I hope you all can enjoy my writing.

- Yours Truly, Alaska.
