kind of upset rn because i just keep rereading my work, and realizing how repetitive and.. like.. boring the writing is. i don’t know how i can make it any better, i have such great ideas for a story but actually writing it is so hard. i use the same words and phrases over and over, i don’t think “other words for said” is going to help me any longer smh

@lovelaeyy — swapping the words out can be helpful, and it doesn’t have to just be “said” or “talked”. you can express speech in a number of ways:

          	  — boomed
          	  — barked
          	  — choked
          	  — croaked

are some examples, and using them can add a lot of emphasis into your work.

google is your best friend for writing. use synonyms and antonyms for words — and that goes for all sorts of words, not just ‘said’.

also, if you don’t feel happy writing right now, take a break as it won’t help matters much. it’s normal for writers to feel such a way. focus on something else in the mean time then return when you feel as if you can focus,
