@siriusirl no exactly !!! i cannot stand what the genre has become, bc it used to be like... the love interest did morally not okay things, but he wasn't often abusive ( from what i saw ). the issue was that it romanticized not great lifestyles, not that it romanticized abuse & assault.
            i have found one " dark romance " series from recent years that isn't morally terrible, and i see an unfortunate amount of people complain that the love interest isn't " dark " enough. like come on !!!

i genuinely felt my stomach churn when i found out it was an adaptation because how many ppl is this going to teach that it’s ‘okay’ to be treated that way or that it’s hot to be an abuser

i also find it so strange that they had 3 boys and 3 girls to let the islanders choose one from when usually it’s 2 boys and 2 girls … i feel like it should’ve been kenzie/corbin and gabriel/jen with all the sympathy votes sol & caleb got
