“I stop and stare at the younger
My heart goes to 'em, they tested with stress that they under
And nowadays, things change
Everyone's ashamed of the youth, 'cause the truth look strange
And for me, it's reversed
We left 'em a world that's cursed, and it hurts (Hurts)
‘Cause any day, they'll push the button
And all good men like Malcolm X or Bobby Hutton died for nothin'
Don't it make you get teary? The world looks dreary”
—- ghetto gospel by tupac shakur (elton john)
as someone who did a project on tupac shakur bc i loved his music from the moment I could remember, and despite his more controversial songs, he always spoke highly of black community and wanting prosperity. he condemned police and wars and was very outspoken in his poetry about life. and now more than ever this song rings true as we see where the world is. you see innocent men and women being carted and kidnapped like livestock instead of the human beings that they are, dying at the hands of an administration who care about funding genocides & imperialism over if people can feed their families. families torn apart, lives being taken senselessly bc ppl are high off of power a tyrant gave them. my heart hurts all the time.
