Running into the straw hat captain on such a small island was certainly a surprise that Law had not anticipated. On top of that he was not prepared for the other captains usual excitement or clinginess. The heart pirate captain had already hit him over the head once with the hilt of his sword to get him to let go, though it hadn’t done any sort of real damage and he might even say luffys grip just seemed to get tighter.
