LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, GAYS AND THEYS (don’t mind that I stole this from snl, I love it) I HAVE AN ANNOUNCEMENT. so, im going into 9th grade after summer and I’m moving to a different state before then. YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS. I CAN BE ANYBODY. I need you guys to help me decide whether or not I should tell my teachers I’m genderfluid. Since I’m afab and I mostly fluctuate between feeling more like a guy and feeling more androgynous, I look naturally a bit too feminine for my taste and I sometimes don’t pass as well as I want to. If I go into this new school without telling my teachers, I might be labeled as a girl, but if I do, it means I have to tell them I’m trans and that’s their first impression/thing they know about me. Idk what to do lol

@luverOfsushi I would try to make them forget about your gender but still respect it. You should tell them some of your talents and interest so that the first thing that comes to their mind isn't "Oh its that trans student" but instead its "Oh its that student thats good at (whether your good at or have interest in)". But they still know that you are trans and can respect it. I don't know if that makes sense because i'm not good at writing but I hope it was helpful and good luck to you too.

You make incredibly good points. How exactly would I make a first impression like that? Idk how to, since I had been in the previous state for like seven years (arriving in 2nd grade, when I hadn’t yet realized that I am trans), and had already made my impressions without having to worry about this until later. Do I tell them as many other things as I can? Or just make them forget about my gender in its entirety, but still remember it enough to respect it? Sorry lol. Also, good luck with 9th grade :D

@luverOfsushi This may not be the most helpful but I would recommend just telling them. Mainly because if you don't tell them, you will go through the entire school year just being misgendered and that can be very annoying. For first impressions you just gotta make sure they know theres more to you then just being trans. I'm not the best at this stuff but thats what I would do in this situation since i'm also going to 9th grade after summer.
