*when you're trying to name a character and you decide he's going to be named Franklin so you decide to randomly pick a last name. you get franklin pierce and think it sounds really similar to a name you remember and look it up just to see on Wikipedia:*

          now, rick riordan has been portrayed as the "anti jk rowling" before, but the thing is, that's not really true. I stand with the natives, LGBTQ+, and muslim communities. I am not in the native or muslim community and therefore I cannot say that anything isn't racist. I will, though, state the main things I've seen people call him out on recently. Note: this may not be all the things he has done, and if you know any others please tell me in the comments. I really want to get more educated on this topic than I am right now.
          -Piper, a Cherokee girl,  is stated to wear feathers in her hair in the books. Eagle feathers, specifically. When called out by people for this being racist, he stood by his statements in the book.
          -Samirah Al Abbas from the Magnus Chase series was in an arranged marriage to someone related to her, engaged at 12. 
          -In his Trials of Apollo series, the main characters meet a lesbian couple who got kicked out of the Hunters of Artemis . People told him about sapphic readings of Artemis and he said that he had not seen sapphic artemis readings before (even when his entire franchise is based off of greek mythology)

hello everyone! so this post is a little bit more serious than my other ones. i don't usually talk about this and i have a really tiny following, but I feel I should share this anyways. i had to get my thoughts together before writing this, and i'm a bit late, but i feel now is better than ever. I don't want to condone behavior from these authors by staying silent.

          I've been a fan of Harry Potter ever since I was little. At this point, her transphobic, racist, anti-Semitic, homophobic behavior honestly flew right over my head. Now, of course, I realize this is hurtful and not okay. In case you aren't sure of what she's done, here's a few things: the only mentioned Asian character being named Cho Chang, Nagini turning into an actual snake.  The "Oh, Dumbledore is actually gay!" baiting and the lack of LGBTQ+ characters in the books. The race of slave creatures that- wait for it- actually 'enjoy' being slaves. And even then, the fact that they ARE slaves and Hermione's attempts to free them is largely played off as a joke. And then the IStandWithMaya tweet... 
          
          I do NOT think it is okay to support her with her beliefs or financially. If you disagree with me, you can unfollow and block me. I do not care. 
          However, I feel that people, as fans, can continue enjoying the content, We have to accept that the writer of this world and characters that we enjoy has beliefs that are not okay or acceptable at all. We can't just pretend she didn't write the books, because she did. We have to support fanfiction authors even more now, and thank you, writers, for making content for this fandom. Go to libraries to read the Harry Potter books. Just try not to financially support J.K. Rowling. It might not do anything, but we have to try to not support people like her.
