hey there!!!! I was wondering if you had any advice for a new time writer here? i've just written a couple chapters of my story and ofc wasn't expecting a million reads in a month lol but the number is either glitched at 26 or people just simply aren't reading it. do you have any advice for getting more reads? maybe you could check it out and tell me what u think? if not, its totally fine!!!

@maincharacter300 once things get going they really get going and the new social feed is actually a help because if people add your fic to their reading list all of their followers can see they added it, it’s definitely upped my reads since that feature was added

so i have a few tips but i will say it is super hard to get traction on your fics especially when they’re still in progress
i think a ton of people will only read completed works, i have people adding my fics to their reading lists titled “waiting till completed” or something like every day
also i’m (pretty) sure that the ranking system promotes stories that have been getting a lot of attention (comments and votes boost a lot and possibly reads if people read your chapter all the way through to the end) so if you get a reader or 2 within a day or 2 you will rank hire in your tags on your story and appear at the top of searches more often
i would def prioritize 1. getting more chapters out and/or keeping a regular schedule like if you post once a week or something (im so horrible at this lol) and 2. i try to read a lot of fics that are similar to mine/same characters and try to interact or follow people who are commenting on those hoping that they will check mine out

my job literally kills me, not a single person here actually does any work but me and people just decide every week they don’t feel like doing a project and my manager just says oh madelyn will do it
